Overview of Practical Parenting Skills 101
Practical Parenting Skills 101 is a primary prevention program based on the idea that the most effective way to strengthen families is to assist today’s parents in their effort to rear self-confident, responsible, and mentally healthy children. As parents acquire new skills, these children will be given the tools to function to the best of their abilities in their personal lives, their educational experiences, and in today’s complex society. In addition this program is designed to provide parents with a supportive network in their roles of parenting.
Practical Parenting Skills 101 is not a how-to parenting kit. It is a positive program that provides parents with fundamental parenting information in a supportive, interactive group setting. Covering family systems, discipline, self-esteem, communication, and other essential topics, the program curriculum is flexible and can be used to address the changing needs of adults and children as they mature and experience the different stages of the parent/child relationship.
